DESCRIPTION

Faced with global giants, it is increasingly difficult to go it alone. Many public service media have established sector partnerships and co-productions to gain scale and efficiency, spread risk, and introduce their national content to new audiences. The preservation of cultures, languages and national and regional sovereignty is becoming more complex as companies with extremely deep pockets like Netflix, Amazon and Disney, to name a few, dominate our markets.

In this session, we look at how French-speaking Public Service Media have addressed this issue. What types of collaborations worked well, and which ones proved more difficult? What are the challenges or obstacles Public Service Media face when deciding to join forces?
